WAREHOUSE GROUND BREAKING!
 NEW LOCATION SIGN
After what has seemed like months of waiting, we are finally able to announce the ground breaking of our new 50,000 foot facility, located just outside of Memphis, TN.  The addition of this warehouse will bring with it great excitement, as it will allow us the opportunity to provide a broader range of services to our customers.  In addition to serving as Impact's Corporate Headquarters, this facility will include space for overflow storage, return handling, and re-packaging for customers, as well as a collection point for humanitarian aid.

If you or someone you know has a need for storage space of this kind in the Memphis area, please do not hesitate to contact me.

BRACE YOURSELF..NIOSH'S FINDINGS ON BACK BELTS

How many of us have asked the following questions...

"Do back belts really reduce the risk of injury?"

"Should I require my associates to wear them?"

Those are great questions... especially in light of the fact that back injuries account for nearly 20% of all injuries and illnesses in the workplace every year, and cost an estimated $20-50 billion annually.  Thankfully, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, specifically the CDC, has given us direction to answer these questions.

stickman"In the largest study of its kind ever conducted, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC)'s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) found no evidence that back belts reduce back injury or back pain for retail workers who lift or move merchandise...

Although back belts are being bought and sold under the premise that they reduce the risk of back injury, there is insufficient scientific evidence that they actually deliver what is promised.  The Institute, therefore, does not recommend the use back belts to prevent injuries among workers who have never been injured.

The Working Group concludes that the effectiveness of using back belts to lessen the risk of back injury among uninjured workers remains unproven."

...now you know, "the rest of the story."

On November 11, 2007, an Impact-sponsored soccer team, Team Toluca, won their League Championship.  With a regular season record of 9-1-1, Team Toluca battled hard in the season finale and posted a 5-4 victory.  Telesforo Consuelo and Isaias Zetina were awarded Honorable Mention.

Team Toluca takes its name from the city in Mexico where several of the players were born.  Sixteen of the team's members are Impact employees in one of our Tennessee operations .

Please join us in congratulating these men for their excellence both on and off the field!  Team Toluca... we salute you!
