Looking for Cost Cutting Strategies???

 Unload
The savings a company can experience by using a 3rd party contractor can be enormous in today's competitive market. Many large fortune 500 companies are now using these 3rd party contractors to handle most of their warehouse operations if not all of their operations. Companies who use 3rd party contractors understand that labor is one of the largest costs regarding their warehouse and distribution services. That's why they are willing to outsource portions of that labor cost to help lower these larger expenses. In the current financial market, companies must consider new strategies if they plan to endure as they go forward.

The fact is, today's warehousing businesses is now depending more and more on 3rd party contractors to support their work force. For example: One of the first areas General Managers should consider using a 3rd party contractor is right on their docks. This is a place where companies need flexible labor, but it's no longer advantageous to simply call a temporary agency or service to unload your floor loaded freight. Companies need consistent and well trained workers who understand their product, and who can deliver quality work on a daily basis. You can and should expect this level of excellence on your docks, and Impact Logistics is one company who is capable of meeting those expectations.

Impact Logistics has been in operation for more than 20 years and they become a true extension of their clients workforce. Impact logistics' people are not merely Temporary labor, but they become a dependable asset for the companies they serve. A Culture of Safety

Managers hold the key to developing and maintaining a culture of safety.  Without their leadership in this endeavor, attempts to foster growth and awareness are spotty and short-lived.  In his foundational work The Practice of Management, Peter Drucker makes this assertion, stating that"the manager is the dynamic, life-giving element in every business. Without his leadership, the "resources of production" remain resources and never become production... above all, the quality and performance of the managers determine the success of a business, indeed they determine its survival."  This statement, while true of the operation, is especially true of in establishing and maintaining a culture of safety in the operation.

Culture is defined as "the quality in a person or society that arises from a concern for what is regarded as excellent in manners or pursuits," and "the sum total of ways of living built up by a group of human beings and transmitted from one generation to another."  In its infancy, culture begins with one or a few "oddballs" who challenge the status quo, but through repetition and reproduction, what was foreign soon becomes the norm.

So how, you may ask, can a culture of safety be established in your operation?  Culture is established by the presence and incarnation of new ideas and methods... it is maintained and grown by replication and reproduction.

Do you long to see a "shift" in the culture of your operation?  Here are some ways you can establish, maintain, and grow a culture of safety:
  • Embody the principles you want to see practiced in your employees.
  • Develop clear policies and disciplinary procedures, then follow them consistently.
  • Terminate marginal employees.
  • Utilize training times, as well as personal conversations, to reinforce the over-arching principles you wish to communicate.
